Adoption Advertising Laws: North Carolina

 

 

Who is allowed to place adoption advertisements?


Child-placing agencies licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, licensed adoption facilitators (defined as an individual or a nonprofit entity that assists biological parents in locating and evaluating prospective adoptive parents free of charge), or homestudy-approved prospective adoptive parents. If prospective adoptive parents advertise they must disclose the name of their home study provider and date home study was conducted.


What are the penalties for violation of this law?


Class 1 Misdemeanor.
