Placing parents are allowed to sign adoption consents no sooner than 72 hours after the child’s birth.
Can placing parents who have consented to an adoption change their mind and revoke their consent?
Yes, but revocation of consent is not automatic. While the birth mother may revoke her consent before the final adoption decree, the court determines whether the consent may be revoked based on the best interests of the child.
