When can the placing parents sign the adoption consent or relinquishment?
Placing parents are allowed to sign adoption consents at any time after the child’s birth.
Can placing parents who have consented to an adoption change their mind and revoke their consent?
Yes, but revocation of consent is not automatic. Consent to adoption may be revoked within 15 days of its signing, but only if the court determines that revocation is in the child’s best interest; however, if consent was given in front of a judge, it cannot be revoked.
